"When we were developing our program we had no clue what we needed to do to be successful. By collaborating with MiCHEP members, we learned how to effectively support our faculty - from orientation to ongoing development. Our staff also benefited by connecting with others to learn how different campuses handle tutoring, accessibility services, and more. This has been invaluable!"
Marc Boucher - Director of Lake Superior State University Prison Education Program

Working with us
MiCHEP believes that elevating and widening the college-in-prison ecosystem for the benefit of incarcerated students, their families, their communities, and the State of Michigan requires people of goodwill from every sector. Government, non-profit community-based organizations, workforce development agencies, business and industry, and reentry service providers are encouraged to get in touch with us to see how we can support each other's missions.

Grants and donors
MiCHEP and MCAN partnered on a two-year, $20,000 grant from the National College Attainment Network. The purpose of the grant is to elevate best practices for supporting justice-impacted people, especially as this work pertains to higher education. We have joined with ten other organizations throughout the nation to accomplish the goals of the grant.

MiCHEP has entered into a two-year, $120,000 service agreement with Calvin University, thanks to a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, intended to help elevate quality initiatives across the college-in-prison ecosystem in Michigan. The principal use of these funds will be used to form and host convenings of affinity groups of faculty, staff, and administrators from MiCHEP member institutions.
